YG expects #WYD to be a big hit, just as popular as MY TYPE + Working on iKON & BOBBY's New Album

YG Entertainment announced on its official blog that the next YG artist to be making a comeback on May 30 would be iKON and that their new song is titled “#WYD”.

It is the first time that YG revealed the artist and the title of the song three days before a comeback. It was indeed a surprise announcement. Why did YG reveal the title of iKON’s new song three days before its release?

An YG official explained, “We expect ’#WYD’ to be a big hit, just as popular as ‘MY TYPE’. YG is currently working on iKON’s new album and BOBBY’s new album to release them soon, but iKON will mostly be in China in May. So, ’#WYD’ is like a surprise present for the fans who are waiting for iKON’s comeback.”

He added, “Unfortunately, iKON will not be in Korea in May, so they won’t be able to appear on music shows. But in June, after the release of iKON and BOBBY’s new album, fans will be able to see them on TV a lot.”

Only nine months have passed since iKON debuted, but they swept the rookie awards at the end of last year. They have also successfully held a solo concert at the biggest indoor performance venue in Korea, the Olympic Gymnastics Stadium. Currently, they are on their Asia tour after finishing their Japan tour.
